I’ve been searching for a book for YEARS and I still can’t find it. It was a book with 3 teenage girls in a dormitory/boarding school. There was magic involved and some sort of danger (maybe a person coming there to harm them?). One of the girls’ dad shows up with a warning about the danger in the middle of the night. I’ve done google searches for years and I cannot find this book. It was a YA book from the library. Not sure if it was a series or not….

I’m searching for a fantasy children’s book that I read over and over as a kid. Sadly I don’t remember too much, but I do remember the main character was a boy and he had a small box(small enough to hold with one hand, possibly a gift from his mother?) and he was warned to never open it. It gets stolen in the beginning and the boy has to go on a quest to get it back before it gets opened. I don’t remember too much about the cover, but I think the boy has was riding a giant bird of some sort? Please, if anyone knows what I’m talking about I would be so grateful to hear.

I’d love to find a middle grade book from the 70’s where a boy goes to stay with his uncle for the summer. The first night there someone spells out his name in Morse Code. (Later find out it was boy same age trying to be friendly, not threatening.) The house is near water with caves that at low tide you can go into. At the end, the bad guy chases the boy into the caves. I believe the title implies something supernatural but the problems are being caused by the bad guy. Thank you!

I read a book in middle school or high school, and I’ve been looking for it for so long. It takes place in one of the maritime provinces of Canada in what is implied to be post nuclear war. The main character lives in a society of people who outcast anyone who has a mutation, and his uncle is one of those outcasts. The main character develops a mutation where he is telepathically connected to a few other kids around his age. They hide it as they are afraid of getting kicked out of their society. They are found out eventually because one of them was hurt and the others felt it and reacted as if they feel it too. They are outcast and discover that there is a wider society of outcasts, there’s a helicopter (???).

It’s a children’s chapter book (probably aimed at 4th-6th grade) about a girl living in (I think) upstate New York (definitely somewhere in the northeast) who discovers that the old house she’s living in is haunted by the ghost of a girl around her same age who died after falling in a frozen pond on the property. The whole thing was set in the winter and there was a lot of Victorian Christmas imagery. My memory is fuzzy around the plot but I remember something to do with a red velvet Christmas dress, I think the ghost girl was wearing it when she drowned? I also think the protagonist may have fallen in the same pond after a sledding accident and was potentially saved after seeing the girl in the red dress? That part I may be conflating with something else but I definitely remember the dress being worn by someone in peril in the frozen pond.
