I’m hoping someone can help with the name of a book I read in the late 80s or early 90s. I think it was pretty contemporary. It was about a young American girl (teen or preteen?) who found out she was the descendent of royalty and went to a small European country to claim her title/live as royalty. The only other thing I remember about it is she had a spunky best friend, and I think at one point one of them said that they didn’t know anything about history except what they learned from “Gone With the Wind”(!) (this was in the context of being told she would have to learn the history of the country where she was a princess. This was NOT The Princess Diaries as it was published at least 10-15 years before that book.

I’m hoping you can help me find this book I’ve been searching for for years. I believe it was a ya and I read it around 2017ish. The H is some kind of paranormal either a vampire or immortal of some kind. He consumes blood from a blood bag and falls into a death like sleep when the sun is out. Because he falls into a death like sleep he now sleeps in a room with a bank vault door. He is a detective or private investigator and has his own business that I think he runs out of his home? He has a sassy secretary. I can remember much about the h but that she breaks down his defenses and maybe sleeps in his vault room with him.

This book was one I read in middle school, but I can’t for the life of me remember the title or find anything on it. It was about a girl, she went to France? I think she was running from something… and I believe the title of the book may have been her name. I think I recall a scene where she’s running and hiding from someone and the male lead kisses her to help because they’re in Paris and it’s so common to see couples embracing. I don’t remember the time period but it could have been historical fiction of some kind. If you can somehow find it I think I’ll actually cry. I just remember liking the book so much but can’t remember much beyond what I’ve mentioned and the fact that when my best friend first saw the cover they asked if it actually said “soap” or “soup” or something like that because the title was in a very stylized font.

i’m hoping to find a novel i read when i was in 5th grade (2009-2010). it’s about a dark-haired boy who  goes to a boarding school. he has a blond nemesis (whose dad is like, rich af and has funded the school. the book is not harry potter. as far as i can remember, they don’t have magic, but i might be wrong). i’ve forgotten the plot, but the book i read was hard bound and illustrated. the art style resemble that of chris riddell’s.

I remember the book being set in Northern Ireland. The main character learns he’s apart of a world of magic of some sort. The magic is involved through speaking certain phrases. When the sorcerer use the magic, their bodies turns into iron. In the first book he turns 13 when he learns about this. He and some other people fight a guy who,s motif is being a clockmaker I think. I remember the main character saving the princess of the demons or something and by the second book they start becoming friends but the princess is manipulating him or something. She gives him the power to speak every magic invocation with the benefit of being so accurate in pronunciation in the words he barely turns into iron. I remember reading this as a younger kid but I moved away from the library so I can’t check what it was. Thanks so much.

This may be more impossible than usual, as it was a short story in a book of horror / suspense for teens, circa late 70’s / early 80’s. The specific story was about a girl who, upset over family conflict (I think) runs into the woods, where she meets a mysterious boy. Turns out he is from some underwater place, maybe a ghost… when she goes back to find him again the lake is gone, and when she calls for him, a spooky old woman asks “Who dares to call for the lights of Coralaine?” She chooses to leave to world to join her love in the haunted underwater town. Extra hard to find because no relation at all to Neil Gaiman’s Coraline but name of town similar.
