I am searching for a name of a book I read as a child-  maybe in late 70’s or early 80’s.  I thought it was called The Silver Ring but I can’t find anything by that title.  It was terrifying in that a young girl came home to find her house either burned or her family was killed somehow.  I don’t really remember much else, but it involved a silver ring.  Does this ring any bells at all?  Thanks so much! The Silver Crown by Robert C. oof – ok so I remember reading a book in the late 80s early 90s – but it could have been set in 1970s. A young girl in highschool is quite a strong ballerina but one day for some reason she drifts into the gym after gymnastics practice. The young coach asks if she wants to try out some of hte equipment and she starts to really love it and goes back regularly. I think she may initially hide her gymnastics workouts from her parents but eventually has to admit that she wants to be more competitive as a gymnast and they probably come round in the end and support her. She and the young coach are flirty but I can’t remember if they dateYou Don’t Have To Be A Perfect Girl by Patricia Aks solved by Lost Classics reader Sheesh

Ok so here goes: 1985 or so. I never held this book in my hands, it was a book on tape. The tape was clear and inside the cassette, there were purple discs (shiny, lavender color purple) around where the parts turn inside the tape player. The narrator was female. It was about a young (maybe 10 years old?) girl and her parents. They lived on a planet that was purple. I think there was something about space travel but I’m not sure. The girl either gets separated from her parents or leaves to go exploring… perhaps gets lost. I don’t really remember what happens while she is gone from her parents but I have a very strong memory towards the end of the story of a purple sun rising over the purple planet. It was kind of a feel good story.  Solved! The Purple Planet Phatos by Trenna Sutphen

I’m looking for a book that I read at some point in the 80s, but not sure when it was published. I want to say the cover was white with black drawings/writing. It’s about a young girl who is going to summer camp, but does NOT want to. She is upset about it, but packs her big old trunk and goes. She ends up loving it. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of this book. I don’t believe it’s Sheila the Great, because it’s about sleep away camp and Sheila the Great is a day camp. I want to say the main character appears in other books, but I am not 100% sure. I just know that trying to find a book about YA girl going to summer camp back in the 80s is impossible! There’s a book I’ve been trying to track down on and off for decades (I’ve been working in kid/YA lit for over 25 years and it’s never crossed my path or turned up in a search.)  I probably read it in the early 80s.  I was reading a lot of Sweet Dreams and similar series, so I’ve always assumed it was one of those, but honestly I don’t remember if there was a romance in it at all, so maybe not.  Here’s what I remember: A girl in her late teens is on her way someplace (NYC?), either for the summer or leaving for college.  I can’t remember what she’s supposed to be doing, but I have a nagging feeling it might involve modeling.  She ends up with the wrong suitcase – one belonging to someone going to art school.  I remember sculpting tools being among the stuff she finds.  And I’m pretty sure she drops her summer plans and goes to art school.  That’s all I remember – don’t know if the book also followed the other person with her suitcase or if they agreed to switch places (this is just speculating…) but I’ve never been able to track it down and I would dearly love to find it!Daisy Summerfield’s Style by MB Goffstein solved by Lost Classics reader Jen

70s YA novel. Main character is a teenage girl named I think Star or Starr.  She’s a Rolling Stones fan, and often sings bits of the song Gimme Shelter. She also reads Rolling Stone Magazine. She spends her free time hanging out with these free-spirited/hippie types who have some mysterious coffee house. One of them wants her to pose for photographs. In contrast there are some mainstream high school students, one of whom is named Beth, who are Peter Frampton fans — that Frampton Comes Alive poster gets mentioned a lot. Beth’s boyfriend falls for Starr but doesn’t get anywhere. Starr tries to show them the hippie hangout but it’s empty and they think she’s weird. This is a very dreamy sort of novel where you’re not always sure what happens to Starr is real. Two Blocks Down by Jina Delton solved by Lost Classics reader Rhondda

I don’t have a lot to go on. But, I read this book in the late 80’s. I think the author’s name was Christopher Green or Christopher White.
I had 2 books by the same author. His name was embossed in gold on the cover.
A gifted boy, 15-17, was abducted and taken to an underground compound. Everyone wore jumpsuits, each colour had a different meaning. His best friend was a girl and she set out to find and rescue him.
She called him The Whiz, everyone thought it was because he was so smart, but it was because they had shown each other their ‘bits’.
She ended up finding him and they hooked up at the end.
Help me. I can’t rest until I find out the title, and hopefully find a copy of the book.  Egypt Green by Christopher Hyde, solved by Lost Classics reader Danielle

I’m trying to find a book I read several times as a kid, but can’t remember the name or author, lol. It’s about a boy staying in San Francisco with a grandfather? Uncle? who needs $$$. The kid finds money tucked into a book or books in the grandfather’s library. So vague,  but I’d really like to find it. I’m looking for a book from the 90s (possibly from the late 80s). It was a paperback, possibly published by Yearly or Scholastic. The cover featured a girl on the beach with her back to the viewer and wearing a white dress. The back of the cover featured a small picture of a starfish broken in half. I vaguely recall the cover having a maroon or purple border but I could be wrong. I don’t remember what it was about as it was above my reading level so I couldn’t read it but have been wanting to ever since then. Solved by the original requestor: The Village by the Sea by Paula Fox

I’ve been desperately trying to find this wonderful book I read in the 1980s. The cover had a girl in a red sweater walking along with a boy. She was in high school & overweight. She joined a gym, lost weight, & tried out to be a cheerleader or majorette. She made it, & replaced the cheerleader who had moved away. This girl ended up getting a job at the gym, and they had to wear heels at work! She ends up with her male friend in the end. She also helped stopped a rumor from being spread about an unpopular girl. Meaning she was still nice even though she was now attractive & thin & a cheerleader.
