I came across your page during a week long endeavor to find the title to a book I read back in the early 2000s. I’ve been wracking my brain and it’s killing me. I will include all that I remember below. I’m pretty sure it could have been an older book and I think it had a mauve/dusty pink paperback cover.

So here’s what I remember: It starts out in a castle with a girl who I think is maybe a princess. She’s a tomboy. I remember they have a big grey dog that she loves. Her parents go missing while she’s asleep and then her nurse maid comes to tell her to get out of the castle and hide. Then she gets chased by someone, presumably trying to kill her. She runs upstairs past a abandoned passage in the castle and hides in a closet of sorts and hears two voices trying to find her and kill her. She ends up escaping somehow and wanders through the woods and ends up coming across some woodsman (kind of 7 dwarves vibes) and they take her in. I’m pretty sure she’s with them for a while through the winter.

One day she gets taken by some robbers or spies and they knock her out and bring her with them. She wakes up by a fire in the woods with the people around the fire. She sees one of them (an ugly old lady) sharpening a dagger made of ice and she finds out that the ice is mixed with poison so that it melts slower. She ends up getting stabbed I her back with the ice and from there she gets really feverish and blurry as the poison takes effect. Obviously she ends up okay at some point and I think she ends up reunited with her mom but that’s about all I remember

Anything helps and thank you so much in advance!

I’ve been trying to track down the title and/or author of a book I remember reading as a tween back in the late 80s/early 90s. My Google search of  ‘henry hudson valley psychic twin indian ghost book’ brought me to your page. It’s set in the Hudson River valley, and follows a set of twins @ 12 years old. The boy is the narrator, his sister is psychic. There’s the ghost of a Native American girl, who has some connection to Henry Hudson, and the plot revolves around putting her spirit to rest. Can you help me find it?

I was doing google searches trying to identify the name of the short sci-fi story by plot and I came across your blog. Maybe it can ring the bell. Plot as I remember: Older man dominated society.  Female Virginity is required for teens.  Boarding school for boys and girls. One of the boys brings to school a furry animal created specifically for boys to rape instead of touching the girls.  Animal can scream.

IT’s been driving me crazy – I’ve been trying to remember a book series that involved magic. I know that the general plot involved a woman driving up in a Rolls Royce and the protagonist starting the adventure through her and her car. I feel like maybe one of the books involved the magic causing hiccups that could not be uncured without a new magic spell.

I’m looking for a YA novel written in the 1980s about a society (probably futuristic but not obviously so) where everyone “lived” in their own personal little automobiles. The people had legs but never used them because they just lived in these little cars. It’s sort of like they were half human with the bottom half cars…except that at the end, I remember the teenage girl who was the protagonist drove down the highway and got out of the car and stood on her legs for the first time.

I read a book in 1975-76 that was sort of light sci-fi about people here who were human but from another planet and had ESP. They were trying to keep us from killing each other by looking outward into space. I remember that the young girl with ESP was able to “teach” her earth friend to use her own ESP by giving her a “pill” that she made from rolling a piece of bread. I loved this book, but this is all I can pull from my memories…

Okay this one has been annoying me for years! Kids book series about a girl who had lots of pets, including chinchillas, rabbits and guinea pigs. She had an Australian babysitter who played the didgeridoo. One of the books in the series described how to group animals, like a “school of fish” or a “murder of crows”. It was fiction, I read them in around 2008ish, for 8-12 year olds I’d say

I have spent YEARS trying to remember this book. Our teacher read it to us in 4th grade (surprisingly at my catholic school). The premise follows a girl in high school, I believe her mother died and she was trying to cope with it. She throws a party at her house and her drink was drugged and she has to fight a man who happens to be stalking her? It sounds like a book I would read now.

Okay so it was this yellow hardcover book I checked out from my school library. It was about a young girl who went to visit or stay with her dad near water I think? Through the book there’s this little island where the main girl strives to swim to and eventually does at some point. I always remember the words “wish magic” in the title but I’ve never found anything like it online and can’t remember any more details. It was the first like novel I read.
