I am looking for a book I read probably about 15 years ago. It was a story about a brother and sister who were sent to some sort of religious school. The boys and girls were kept separate and the sister was desperate to escape with her brother. I can’t remember if they had parents or not, but there were issues at home that meant they could not necessarily go back home. I really appreciate any help you can provide!

I am trying to remember the name of a book I read in junior high. I’m pretty sure it was written by a well-known female author, but this was a lesser-known book. It was about a red headed girl who befriends another teenage girl, who has dark hair and dark eyes. Lots of stuff happens, and the red headed girl (the narrator) gets hurt and can’t go to the dance. Then the dark haired girl wears the dress that the red headed girl made, which is pink, and the red headed girl realizes that she was bewitched and controlled by the dark haired girl, who is a witch, and the dress she made wouldn’t even look good on her because it was pink and wouldn’t look good with her complexion.

Hello! I’m looking for a book I read as a child in the 80s (could be older as I purchased thrift store books a lot). It’s about 2 siblings, boy & girl, who have a dad that takes people out in the wilderness as a job (hunting, fishing, camping maybe). The 3 of them go on a wilderness camping trip, & drive quite a ways to get there. Some sort of accident happens (car wreck? Can’t remember), & the father passes away. The 2 kids have to journey to safety on their own, using tactics their dad had taught them.

It was a teen novel I read between 1983 and 1987 (sorry cannot narrow it down more than than). The protagonist wants to win the Battle of the Bands at their high school so she recruits and starts an all-girl band called Vixen, and they designed their posters so that the V in Vixen looked like a fox’s face. I think they might have had to settle for having a boy drummer. I know I read it before 1988 because that’s when the real band Vixen first hit it big, and it was definitely before that.

I’ve stumbled upon your website in search of a book that was long forgotten. All I know about it is that my friend read it sometime around the 1980s, it was an adult fantasy book that contained a lot of inappropriate content such as rape and sexual interactions, etc. It was about a man who is maybe a barbian of sorts at first and he gets introduced into the community of this village and he becomes their shamen/leader/warrior. My friend recalls that buffalo’s were important, dowries sought after for wives and daughters were important. And the man used hemp to awaken his powers and/or the powers of his people. Possibly written by a male author. Could you please help me?

I have been searching for many years for a YA book I read in grade school that I loved and have not been able to forget. I would love to find it and read it again. I was in 5th or 6th grade so it was published before 1956. It may have been a paperback. It was told from the perspective of a young girl living in San Francisco during the 1906 earthquake. As I remember she experienced the quake and the aftermath; she explained in great detail her shock and fear and how this affected her life. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

This is so random but I read this book when I was like a pre teen (I’m 19 now) and I need to remember what it was called! The plot was like these two girls, this one of them had like moved in because they shared a dad or something. She was a bit older than the other one. The other one was like a young ish girl that had like problems arguing with her parents and stuff. She wanted to go to this party and I believe the parents said no. Then the older girl (think she could of been a babysitter? I can’t remember) was like I’ll help you!!! And got her dressed up and stuff to go to this party and I think the other girl ended up having a horrible time. Girl A (younger girl) ended up going home and crying and girl B (older girl) like told her parents she was like crazy and stuff and girl A was like so mad. Girl B turned on girl A abd I really want to know the name of the book. if you can help that would be amazinf !!!!

I’m trying to find the title of a book my good friend has been looking for.  She most likely read it in the early 70s but we’re not sure about that. (She was born in 1964 and remembers reading it as a youth.  She described it this way. A young girl is forced (for whatever reason) to go live with her grandmother.  While there she starts to get clues about her own jewish heritage, which she knew nothing about. She sees her grandmother lighting a special candle every Friday night.  Eventually in the story she finds a piece of lace that somehow can be traced back to her family’s history Jewish history and things they went through in years past. I would greatly appreciate you posting this for me on the site, or somehow your help in connecting me with any entity (website, link or person) that will help reveal to me the title of this book. Thank you very much for your help in advance!

I’m searching for a book I read around 2010-2012, it was a middle grade anthology book published between the late eighties and early 2000s and the author was a man. One of the longer stories in the anthology follows a girl who makes a deal with some malicious entity who promises to fulfill her wishes in exchange for slivers of silver, which she pays with silver candle shavings. As the entity grants more wishes it asks for more expensive payments, eventually asking for slivers of gold, which the girl once again pays with golden candle shavings. The deals are sealed with a gold amulet in this short story, and at the end of the story it was revealed that the entity was stealing gold links from the amulet as payment until the length of the chain got so short the girl was choked.

All stories in this anthology are in the same vein of cautionary tale and middle grade horror. The cover of the edition I read was lime green with the title in misshapen lettering, and there was a flower and mirrors reflecting eyes on the front cover as well.

It was not scary stories to tell in the dark, and it was not the Cursed Carnival and Ofher Calamities.

It’s from 1980 or 81. it’s about a girl named Tatiana who is a sexually active teen lives with her sister (ophelia I think) and parents. Her mother is a commercial actress and Tatiana also made her first movie. Hints: there’s a reference to the movie 10; Tatiana has long red hair, she has a interview with people magazine and ends up on the cover  I believe her boyfriends name is Josh.
