Maybe someone will remember this quirky book from the late 70s. It was about a teenaged girl who was having trouble fitting in with friends and at school, but who had a special relationship with her Italian grandfather at home who spoke no English. They lived in a tall apartment building in a big city and the girl had a lot of freedom and was fairly independent. After the grandfather loses one of his teeth, the girl, oddly, takes the tooth and puts it on a chain and wears it around her neck. Another time, the girl is upset about something and grabs a blanket and sleeps in the bathtub. Something bad maybe happens to her at school on Halloween. The title of the book may be the girl’s name, but not sure about this. The book was memorable to me because of it being somewhat different from most teen books of the time.

I am trying to locate a book that was written in the 1960s about a set of twins, June and Julia (one born on June 30th, the other July 1st). It was a mystery and I believe set in Australia. One thing I remember about it is there is an illustration of one of the sisters bending down to look at a Succulent – the first time I had every come across this word – and the name Succulent was part of a clue.
I think it was a female author whose name began with M – perhaps Margaret?

Trying to find a book that I read in the late 70’s??? I think the book was set in the 60’s maybe early 70’s. I think the book title was Kat and Me or Me and Kat maybe spelled with a c not sure. It was a coming of age book about a boy who was an outsider/rebel who lived with his mom. I think it was set during his senior year. He had a starling he had rescued that could talk. I think there was an actual cat in the book but it was also in reference to a girl he liked. She was popular and maybe he was tutoring her or something. I had got it from the library and it was a hardback book. In the end he left to go to the city. I can’t remember if the girl went with him or not. He might have been an artist.

I am looking for a book that I read in my highschool library, so I think it’s YA. It was a thin book (probably more or less 100 pages) with a beige cover, and it had a introduction/foreword that said that the book was an extremely popular coming of age novel in France but it wasn’t as much in English, even though it was originally written in English. It’s about a 10~12 year old boy falling in love with a girl and having sex with her in the meadows, but he is institutionalized when her parents find out. Neither of them understand what sex is. I think there was a scene where he writes to the girl on the padded walls of the solitary ward but I’m not sure.

Looking for a book where a kid is injured while either getting on or off of a train

The second was about a young blond girl meeting an older boy during summer and her parents don’t approve but she sees him secretly and they only have the summer to be together. I remember them walking on a boardwalk and watching a concert/show and they end up sleeping together and I remember her wearing white specifically but he’s not there in the morning and I think her parents find out somehow

Looking for two YA novels read both of them around 2008-2010, read them around when I read PLL and what my mother doesn’t know. One was about a good girl and a bad boy(pretty sure that was in the title and I remember the cover having on of the words crossed out/ scratched off) she was either his tutor or working on a project together but she was friends with the librarian and ate lunch in the library and he noticed her one day and they start communicating by writing in a journal she finds in the library, she doesn’t know who she’s talking to though and he makes fun of her for it….

I read a series of books as a teen about a teenager who had an older neighbor and they solved mysteries together. I remember there being several books with mostly a drab gray color for the covers and simple black and white line art inside. I would love to read them again but I have no idea what they are called. I’m 46 now and read these as a teenager. So early 90s time frame.

I read this in the 80s or early 90s: A girl is really struggling both at home and school. Perhaps her family is impoverished, struggling with addiction, etc. At school, she struggles academically and has no friends. Her one escape is a dollhouse located in her classroom. Her teacher has promised at the end of the year a deserving student will get to take the dollhouse home. The main character imagines it will be one of the popular, smart, or athletic kids. She is shocked, on the last day of school, to discover the teacher has chosen her. The teacher has a really beautiful sense of empathy and understanding for this struggling child.
