So I’ve been searching for a book which I think was possibly a young adults book, or possibly made for young teens. I believe the book was historically set and involved vikings. The main character (possibly called Ingrid or Sigrid) was married to the Viking king (or someone high up in the Viking family). The main part I remember is that the people of the town disliked her, I believe she was good at making potions. There was a chapter when someone had tried to kill her husband by placing poison in his drink, but before he drank it she had a suspicion and rubbed some on her lip, making her lip swell.

I’ve failed at finding this book after many, many years of trying and I hope you can help! It’s a sci-fi book and starts with a family being massacred by an army of mutant pigs, using modern weapons. I remember it being sort of graphic, the author even describing some gore, smells etc during this scene. I can’t remember if it was set in like a future earth or not or an alternate version of earth. I’ve head people say it’s Animal Farm but I’m pretty sure it’s not Animal Farm.

Okay, been looking for this for ages and any help is appreciated. YA science fiction book from late 70s, I think the cover was black. Set in a near future where a rebellious boy is sent off to a school in the middle of nowhere, possibly in Scotland. He escapes and befriends a war robot named Ogre or Orcus or some such. There’s a scene earlier where the kid attends a show at an arena where the robot devastates a number of cars. It’s NOT “The Iron Giant”; I know that book well, and the one I’m looking for is a novel, not a storybook. I did find it briefly in 1989 or so but forgot about it again. Any help very welcome

My book was this children/teen book with a young female protagonist, probably written in the early 2000s. It started off describing someone’s death and a funeral. She had this dog and the premise was there was a river that flooded that she and her dog got caught in. On the cover, there was definitely some sort of picture of a storm, the girl, and her dog. I think it was written in first person and was kind of clever/funny. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. I always get it mixed up with Because of Winn Dixie, but it’s not that. Any help would be much appreciated!!

It was a gift I got about 15 years ago or more. All I can remember is this; A story of a young person who had some type of power who was introduced to others like them. Possibly at a school as I remember there was an adult involved. I’ve searched and all I ever get recommended is ms Peregrines school for peculiar children but it was not this. This probably isn’t of much help but I remember I had the hardback edition and I’m pretty sure the dust cover was purple and black and mysterious looking.

I don’t remember much but I remember A young girl one day comes across a man in the snow and she decides to help him and I believe she hides him in her basement or barn? Not too sure. The man is Russian I believe and I think the story makes him compare the girls blonde hair to his daughter’s? Maybe? And I think she draws him a picture and then it’s found out he was a fugitive and in the end I think either betrays the girl and runs away or betrays her and possibly kills or knocks her out? I have no idea for the title, idk I kept thinking stranger but the only thing I could find was the stranger by Vladimir schanov and it’s only in Russian and I could not find an English edition so I don’t believe it to be that because I read it in English. I also read this between 2012-2014 but it could’ve and probably was written before not too sure

It’s a novel about a teenage deaf girl who was sick and went to a store (like CVS or Walgreens) with her mom to pick up her medicine. The girl stayed in the car while the mom went inside to get the medicine. While she was waiting, their car got stolen with the dead girl inside. She ended up being kidnapped and kept at a house in the middle of the woods by some guy. I read this book in 6th grade and I could’ve swore it was called “girl, lost” or something but I haven’t been able to find it ANYWHERE!!

I know it’s a long shot but I’ve been trying to find the name of this book since I was very young. For some reason it just completely evades me!
I can describe the cover. It was deep red and there was some form of emerald jewel on it. There is some sort of link to an emerald stone. I just can’t remember what it is. I’m almost certain the book is set somewhere like Russia. It’s about a girl who is separated for her mother and her name MAY be Anastasia but it’s all hazy!
Please let me know if you have any idea what it is as I would love to read it again, it was one of my favourites when I was young!
P.S. I appreciate the information I have given is very sparse. I’ve done my own research and it’s never achieved any results, but I thought it might be worth a shot to ask you!

Now I’m not sure if this is a YA book or not because I remember sneaking to read this book because it belonged to my aunt. It was about a girl in high school who lived in the woods or the swamp with her mother. She wasn’t popular. I think her mother ends up dying and she’s alone. But she develops like witch’s powers maybe, but I definitely remember that she gets these birds (crows or ravens) that listen to her. She ends up offing the coach in her school and some other people who were mean to her by using the birds. They would follow people and watch them. I think she ends up liking this boy but of course he’s not really into her. And the birds get him too. I can’t remember the ending, or if I even finished it because I think I got caught reading it lol.

I actually have two requests!
1) Old short story that was written/takes place around early 1900s? A guy is travelling when he meets this old man who lives in a house in the country and gets invited to stay for a few days. The old man really likes guy and tells him all about his wife and how awesome she is and she’ll be coming home from travels in a few weeks, and begs guy to stay until she arrives. They plan a huge coming home party for her with all the neighbors, who get the old man super drunk until he passes out. The neighbors put the old man to bed and guy asks where the wife is, she never showed up. The neighbors say that they do this every month, she’s been dead for years but the old man can’t cope so he just always thinks she’s coming home soon.
2) Read this is the late 80s/early 90s. Book about a girl who gets a demon attached to her when she is a kid. The demon has long tendrils coming out of its head. It leaves her alone and then comes back when she’s an adult and she has to deal with it.
