I think about this book so often but cannot for the life of me find it – it was about a girl from a poor family, maybe in Russia, who leaves home to join a serious ballet or some kind of dance company. Her mother was heavily referenced in the beginning when she was pursuing the opportunity, I think maybe her mom was opposed to her going or pessimistic that it would work out? Then the book focused a lot on the “green room” the girls in the company had to entertain men in as part of the gig which the main character spent a lot of time discussing her uncomfortableness about.

I don’t remember too much about this book, but I will be so amazed if someone helps me find it! I read it when I was in 3rd grade and it was probably a middle age YA book. It featured a group of kids who talk to a Medium! I think they live in an apartment complex. I remember there being some sort of scene where either the group of kids or one of them has to escape the apartment complex by going out on a ledge?? I remember this book inspiring me to answer the popular question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” With: A MEDIUM. I’m sorry I don’t remember more, but I appreciate any help!

The YA book I’m looking for I read when I was in high school between 2005-2008. It was about a Russian boy who is a ballet dancer who comes to an American high school or college on an exchange programme, I think, and falls for a a girl. He wants to stay and be with her but is being blackmailed to marry one of his fellow Russian dancers. That’s all I can remember about the book apart from it had a dark green cover. Thanks so much if you can find the name or author of this book for me.

I’m searching for a YA (maybe Children’s?) book about a girl with a chronic illness in a NYC hospital. She meets a friend in the hospital and they sit in the stairwell looking at the bridges and think of the lights strung above the bridges as necklaces. The girl with the chronic illness is reluctant to reveal her diagnosis, but it’s clear she’s been in the hospital a long time. Parents aren’t allowed to visit so the girls only have each other.

I’m looking for a book I read about 12-15 years ago. The book itself was combined in a paperback with a second unrelated book by the same author. A 2-in-1 book. The story I’m looking for is about a British girl who comes to the New England (?) area to nanny for a boy that lives in a large estate home. The boy loves hockey and the local hockey team. She takes him to go see the hockey game and meets his favorite player, the player and the girl hit it off romantically. From my memory, the boy starts having paranormal experiences, maybe seeing a ghost? It is winter, and she takes him outside a lot to ice skate/build snowmen. At one point, she gets into a car accident because she’s driving on the wrong side of the road, but it’s the hunky hockey guy so that’s cute and she calls her car hood a bonnet. At another point she goes to a bakery and gets a muffin and walks into a tree outside face first. Please please help me I’ve asked every librarian and google and can’t find this. The cover of the book was black with a green or purple picture/symbol. But this was for the 2-in-1 book so it could be different if it’s on its own. I don’t remember the names of any character, or the title or the author.

I’m looking for a book that’s about a man who worked as a silent film director who I think then goes off to war; think it’s WW2. It’s about his loves and losses, and I’m pretty sure it has the word ‘rose’ in the title. It’s quite a long book…I think…

I have a book that was by Christopher Pike or his contemporaries, so like a horror-adjacent ya book. The title was just a single name -like “Nora” or “Dara” or something (I think). It was only slightly horror (i think she had magic or was chosen or something) but more about relationships. A friend lent it to me once in the 90s.

The book I’m looking for was in the late 80s/early 90s. It was about a group of high school students who were all missing an extracurricular activity, so they were assigned to create the school’s yearbook to fulfill that requirement to graduate. There was the pretty blonde from an upper middle class family, an artsy/misfit type girl, and a loner guy who turned out to be wealthy, and at least one other student (maybe an athlete?). It was almost like Breakfast Club, but in a yearbook class setting. I think it had yearbook in the name, but I’m not entirely sure, and searches for yearbook haven’t brought up this book. Any help is appreciated!

I’m looking for a British YA book from the 70s or 80s. A young couple gets married and lives in a flat in an apartment house in London filled with lots of different characters. I remember they were always looking for change to feed the heat meter to stay warm. She gets pregnant and has a baby boy and when her very uptight mother comes to visit all of the neighbors bring them furniture to make it seem like she’s got it all together. Any ideas?
