If you can help me out on finding a book from my middle school/high school days (06-13) that would be great. What I can remember is the book follows a teenage boy who’s older brother is released from jail and comes back home. The brother pleads that he is innocent, and that he shouldn’t have been in jail. The ending sticks out most to me, as the older brother commits a similiar crime to what he went to jail for, the little brother sees him for who he truly is, and the older brother escapes the town via like a raft on a river, and the little brother is sure he won’t survive on the river, and he watches him go/leave. That’s all I have. I have been searching for this book for a long time, and I have even purchased books I believed were it, just to figure out it wasn’t

I’ve been looking for the name of this short story for ages! I read a short novel in 8th grade set in a dystopian world. The main character lived in a government setting and only ate wafers for nutrition. They paid people in tokens, and her mother only had her because it was a year she’d earn more tokens. She eventually escaped with a stranger who lived ‘on the outside’ and she was exposed to sunlight. She got terrible sunburn. She also tried an orange (tried to eat it with the rind on) and chicken for the first time, which tasted amazing. She eventually lived with his family.

i’ve been searching for this book for ages but no google searches come up lol it’s basically about this girl i THINK first based in england and she goes to a performing arts school and has either 2/3 friends and a “hot boyfriend” (i think it’s a series so maybe not the bf first). but i do remember that she ends up moving to i think america as her mum gets remarried to either this actor or director. there’s one scene where her mum is wearing a satin shirt and there’s a massive christmas tree in the foyer and a dog too. i think she’s worried about losing her friends and boyfriend as there MAY have been a new girl back home? not entirely sure. oh and i think she made a new movie and her performance got bad reviews!

I borrowed it from a friend in 2003/2002, and I feel like it was pretty new at the time but it may have been older. It’s a YA book about a girl whose mother joins a cult that believes only a certain number of people on top of a mountain on a certain day can go to heaven. She thinks it’s ridiculous but over the course of the story a lot of things happen that make her wonder if there’s not something to it. They don’t have the right number of people until close to the end when the cult leader’s long lost son joins them on the mountain, making their final person. The news starts covering the cult and a bunch of people want to join the mountain cult but are kept back by ropes and guards. The day dawns, everyone is gathered, but panicked outsiders fight their way on to the mountain top so the rapture doesn’t happen since there’s too many people on the mountain. Or maybe because the whole thing was never true to begin with. The main character doesn’t know which is true and it really leaves you feeling unsettled because by the end, you aren’t either. I believe it’s told in dual POV with a teenage boy who starts out as a believer and slowly begins to doubt. But I don’t remember much from his perspective, so he might not have had a POV, he might just feature heavily.

I am! Looking for a book that had a deep effect. Although I can’t remember exactly when I read it because I’ve never stopped reading YA 🙂 70s? 80s? All I remember about it was that she was an outcast (I think and most likely). Toward the end of the book, she climbed a hill or a mountain and lay down in the grasses. She died there and it was followed by a (long?) description of how her consciousness remained, describing the decomposition of her body and going back into the earth. It was a small paperback.

I would have read this book in the 70s. I’m not sure if it was YA, but probably. A young girl is lost in the prairie and is taken in and cared for by badgers. This is realistically depicted, these are not cartoon badgers. I think she lives there for some time and becomes like a ‘wild girl/wolf girl’, in that vein.

I’m looking for a book that’s about a high schooler, who most likely worked at this hotel for a summer job, and the hotel was hosting a Murder Mystery party where the hotel guests have to decide by the end of the night who murdered someone, but a hotel guest actually does end up dying. I think the guests weren’t able to actually leave out the hotel but were able to move around between floors. Another thing about the book was that there was a vacant hotel room thought to be haunted by a man (or woman) who committed suicide, I think. One scene the high schooler ends up going inside the room cause she thought she might’ve heard something inside. I do remember the high schooler having to wear shorts and a blue top as uniform while working. The genre was YA mystery and the author had other books that was similar, in the sense of the genre, kind of like how R.L Stein is with his books. The cover of the book might’ve had a girl on the front and she was looking behind her while running, I’m not 100% sure.

I have been trying to find two books that I cannot remember the names of.
1) set in medieval times, a Lady is left in a crumbling tower with a rose garden and one attendant. A male thief comes to the to the tower and takes her hostage (I think). It’s a very short novela, and I read it around 1990 or 1991 so it may have been printed in the 80s. It read like a ya romance.
2) I read this book around 1994 from the school library, but I think it may have been printed much earlier. A boy from a large city with an alcoholic mother. He takes stolen car radios from car thieves, and fixes them/sells them. Someone gets hurt in one of the thefts, he gets the radio and before he can get rid of it his mom is taken to jail or rehab by the police. He’s then sent to live with relatives in the country and had to adjust/go to therapy. Eventually the police realize that he was involved with the stolen radio and his relatives help him through the resulting legal stuff but that’s where my memory goes hazy.

I’m looking for a book I read at school in 2002. I think it might has been published around 90’s or early 2000. It’s a teenage romance book, whre the plot basically describes how two best friends try to deny they love each other and finally end up together. What i remember from the book cover is that it was clear, and the picture of the boy was in the front (like the sun valley series books). In regards to the plot, i have several lagoons, however i remember the follwing:
– the story develops during summer.
-he was described as a handsome guy and that all girls wanted to be with him.
– at some point of the story, she figures out that she knows exactly the way he loves eating hamburgers, with all exact details and questions herself why is that.
– they also loved to go to the cinema or theatre (not sure) to see old movies
– in the last chapter i remember he was described like feeling jealous, and being in bed, so he got up, with all his messy hair and went to the cinema they used to go together, without knowing exactly why, but he needed to. Si he got there and bought a ticket. She also went to the cinema, she felt terrible, and was crying (i guess).
They didn’t know they were both at the same time at the cinema, so when they got out, they found each other and kissed. I hope you May help me!

Maybe someone can help with this one – probably published in 1950s or early 60s, but I read it in the 70s. No dust jacket, since I think my mom got it at a library or garage sale – but hardback, plain red cover. Girl (named Gabrielle, I think, perhaps French-Canadian?) in high school, trying to fit in. I remember she starts writing anonymous reports to the school paper with the pen name “Gadfly.” At some point she wants to get a job and hears the local department store wants girls to model clothing – she doesn’t have anything fancy, but shows up in her snowsuit and at the audition poses as if she’s skiing – and gets the job. At some point she goes to a barn dance or hayride and meets a college boy, which impresses her peers. I thought the name of the book was something like “Gabby” but that doesn’t seem to turn anything up.
