All I know about it is that my friend read it sometime around the 1980s, it was an adult fantasy book that contained a lot of inappropriate content such as rape and sexual interactions, etc. It was about a man who is maybe a barbian of sorts at first and he gets introduced into the community of this village and he becomes their shamen/leader/warrior. My friend recalls that buffalo’s were important, dowries sought after for wives and daughters were important. And the man used hemp to awaken his powers and/or the powers of his people. Possibly written by a male author. Could you please help me?
