I believe I read this book when I was in grade school, so I know this is an upper elementary, middle grade genre book. It was most likely published post 2010. From what I remember it’s about this girl and it has to die with fairytales. So you can go through these magical doors and enter fairy tales. I’m pretty sure these kids are charged with completing these fairy tales, like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty type stuff. There might’ve been a magical story book that like handed out quests. I remember there were multiple books, I think it was a trilogy. There was a scene in a later book that a girl gets her hand chopped off (not shown on page and it wasn’t described with graphic detail) and she’s covered up with a sheet. Her arm is then replaced with an arm made of gold. There’s a heavy emphasis on magical doorways.
Would this be the UnEnchanted series of books by Chandra Hahn? Each book had to do with some kind of a fairy tale or mythical creature. At the end of the series, the girl discovers she is a descendant of mermaids/merpeople and marries a prince.
