book I read in middle school on my kindle and I can’t remember the title but I know it was about some girl and possibly her neighbor boy? Anyways the most solid thing I remember is the ending where the boy goes to break up with his girlfriend and they get in an accident while it’s raining. The girlfriend goes through the windshield because she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt but the boy is relatively fine. He leaves the car to check on the girlfriend but doesn’t see the broken power line next to her. He sits down to check on her and puts his hand in a puddle and it’s electrified from the power line and he fries and dies 
this book altered my brain chemistry and i would love to witness that again. Thanks!

Lost Classics of Teen Lit: Name That Book! 
This is “If He Had Been with Me” by Laura Nowlin. It came out in 2013 but got a new cover a few years back. You can probably find it pretty easily at a bookstore these days because it’s a New York Times bestseller again, thanks to TikTok. There’s a companion book from the boy’s POV coming out in the fall!
